This article concerns several members of the Lei family of Sichuan, still famous for their qins.

The original article begins as follows,3

Lei Wei was from 西蜀 Western Sichuan. He excelled at making qins, not only from 桐 pawlonia. If he encountered a big wind or snow he would go alone to 峨眉 the Emei Mountains drinking wine. It would be more beautiful than (qins made from pawlonia....

The rather lengthy article also mentions instructions from a old man [ghost?], and gives the names of some other makers. Xu Jian discusses him and other Tang dynasty qin makers in QSCB, pp.77 - 79.

Some articles in Qinshu Cunmu mention his qins. E.G., see

Folio 18, #81.

Further details in preparation.
