Shillin Guangji Preface

Shilin Guangji was part of a popular compendium compiled by Chen Yuanjing during the Southern Song Dynasty, which underwent several revisions and reprints during the Yuan Dynasty. We have access to three versions of this work: 1. The version held by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is a reprint from Japan, produced in the 12th year of the Genroku era (1699 AD), based on the supplemented edition from the Yuan Dynasty's Tai Ding reign. This book in in its seventh volume includes discussions on old theoretical studies of the qin and includes the piece “Huang Ying Yin”. 2. The Zhonghua Book Company edition, which is an impression of the Chunzhuang Academy's printing of the supplemented edition from the Yuan dynasty Zhishun reign. In addition to “Huang Ying Yin”, this version includes five additional short qin pieces in different modes: gong, shang, jue, zhi and yu along with drawing up distinctive characteristics as determined by qin theories.

2. 查阜西 Zha Fuxi and 吳釗 Wu Zhao
The Qinqu Jicheng series started to come out in 1981, after Zha Fuxi had passed away. Wu Zhao's role throughout this, other than editing, is not clear and crediting of his work seems to be inconsistent.

三事林廣記序

《事林廣記》是南宋陳元靚编纂的一部通俗類書，在元代經過多次修訂翻刻。我們見到的共有三個版本：（一）中國科學院圖書館所藏日本在元禄十二年（公元一六九九）翻刻的元泰定增補本。此書第七集收有琴學舊論及《黄鶯吟》一曲；（二）中華書局影印椿莊書院刊刻的元至順增補本。此本除《黄鶯吟》外另增刻了官調、商調、角調、徽調、羽調五個小品琴曲，琴論的取材也有所不同。（三）北大圖書館所藏元後至元的鄭氏積誠堂本庚集。此本材料與至順本幾乎完全相同，故本編不予收錄。其餘兩本均照樣影印，以供研究。結合《事林廣記》的六個曲譜和元代吴澄琴言十則的指法稍作分析研究，就可以看出元代的譜，比較姜夔的譜有了幾化；又因姜譜是自作自寫，寫成的時代有保證，也能說明用姜譜鑒别早期琴譜的可靠性。
