In the illustration, as Xiang Yu prepares to leave for his final battle, Yu Ji slits her throat so that he won't worry about her during the battle. Later, however, Xiang Yu loses anyway, then commits suicide himself.
The inscription over the illustration says, Farewell my Concubine, 1993, painted by Chen Di in Saibei Town (near 長春 Changchun), Binhe New Village; also the inscription. |
